i-Control: Security in the Palm of Your Hand
Traditional techniques for verifying the authenticity of documents are being supplanted by those supported by Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technologies, which allow secure signing and optional encryption of documents for transmission over networks.
PKI systems are being used already in our daily lives, ranging from purchases using EMV bank cards, signing documents or email messages, secure electronic information transmission over networks or storage on servers, right up to validating ID documents such as electronic passports. However the best PKI system is only as strong as its certificate store, and using on-disk files on the user's PC is a potential Achilles Heel that may be open to various common forms of attack.
Inteligensa's i-Control key provides a portable and easy to use medium for storing digital certificates. The key plugs into a USB port when needed, and apart from its standards-compliant PKI functions can also serve to authenticate Windows users during login.
